Director
Director of Surgical Services (Colorado)

DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: AORN Works is seeking a full time permanent Director of Surgical Services for a full service, acute-care community hospital in Colorado.
This facility is licensed for 196 patient beds, 7 ORs, performs 300 cases/month. Responsible for 70 FTEs.
Position reports directly to the CNO.
Provide leadership and accountability in the daily operations of the Perioperative departments.
Develop and maintain physician relations, and empower clinical care givers through solicitation of input and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care.
Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the provision of services in the department, and establishing standards of nursing practice for the service.
Assure achievement of department goals and take an active role in achievement of hospital goals as they relate to the operations department.
Will be available to support the clinical needs of the department by providing staffing support as volume and acuity demand.
REQUIREMENTS:
BSN, MSN or MHA/MBA preferred
CO RN license or compact status
2 years management experience in surgical services
5 years experience as an OR nurse with scrub and circulating experience

The Senior Nurse Educator functions within the roles of educator, facilitator, change agent, consultant, researcher and leader. The Nurse Educator is responsible for assessment, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs that enhance performance and promote professional development.
Educator:-
Demonstrate the clinical expertise, leadership, management, communication skills and knowledge of education theory and principle necessary to develop educational programs and achieve optimal educational outcomes.

Design, implement, and evaluate designated hospital based educational programs and consultative services. Assess learning needs through formal and informal approaches to data collection to determine specific education needs. Utilize teaching techniques that promote critical thinking and evidence based practice incorporating principles of adult learning theory. Identify, coordinate and plan educational offerings for DON personnel, with consideration of but not limited to mandatory regulations, safety, performance improvement, new equipment, technologies, and clinical advancements.
